The Bhartiya Janta Party has accused the Telangana government of harboring an "anti-Hindu" agenda after the latter imposed certain restrictions in Hyderabad and Cyberabad during Holi festivities.

An order was issued on Wednesday by Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu, prohibiting the act of throwing colours or coloured water on individuals, vehicles, or public spaces without their consent. Applying colours to people who do not wish to participate or targeting vehicles and public areas has been strictly forbidden.

Additionally, riding two-wheelers or other vehicles in groups on streets and public areas, in a manner that may disrupt public peace or pose a risk of inconvenience or danger is also prohibited.

Expressing strong objections to the restrictions imposed, BJP leader Shakti Kumar, in his X post, said, “Congress government’s anti-Hindu agenda is out in the open again! Now, they are restricting Holi celebrations in Telangana—Hindus are being told how to celebrate their own festival! Why are such restrictions never imposed on other festivals? Why are Hindu traditions always targeted?”

These restrictions are effective from 6:00 PM on March 13 to 6:00 AM on March 15, 2025, in Hyderabad, and from 6:00 AM on March 14 to 6:00 AM on March 15, 2025, in Cyberabad.
Additionally, all liquor outlets, including wine and toddy shops, and bars associated with restaurants, will remain closed from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on March 14. However, establishments linked to star hotels and registered clubs will be operational from 4:00 PM onwards.

Violations of these guidelines may result in prosecution under Section 76 of the Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 Fasli. The public is urged to adhere to these directives.
