Jagran Correspondent, Muzaffarpur: At least five patients died, and several others were injured after a fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Prasad Hospital in Bihar's Muzaffarpur early Thursday morning.
This incident comes just a day after a massive fire broke out at a hotel in Delhi's Malviya Nagar area, claiming 21 lives.

5 Dead So Far
The fire department received an emergency call at around 3:00 AM. Firefighting teams rushed to the scene immediately upon receiving the information and have since brought the blaze under control.
Officials stated that the bodies of five patients have been recovered from the hospital so far. At least 20 people were evacuated and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The death rate is likely to rise.

15 Patients In 13-Bed Ward
Speaking to Jagran.com, District Magistrate Subrata Kumar Sen said that 15 patients were present in the 13-bed ICU ward at the time of the incident. Fivepatients died while the remaining individuals were evacuated and rushed to the nearby hospital. The ICU ward-in-charge also suffered burns during the blaze and is currently admitted at an adjacent hospital.
Patients' Families Allege Mismanagement, Locked Exits
The District Magistrate met the relatives of the patients, who raised complaints regarding hospital mismanagement. According to the families, the hospital's fire control system was not working when the fire broke out.
Furthermore, the relative stated that a stairwell gate was locked, hindering the rescue operations.
