FNG Expressway Status Update: The officials from the Noida authority and Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority on Sunday announced that both authorities have agreed to complete the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) expressway. The officials stated that the construction of the much-awaited project will be jointly funded by Haryana and Uttar Pradesh state governments. The FNG expressway is likely to provide a major convenience to the residents of these states by significantly cutting the travel time.
The officials stated that the construction cost of a 600-meter bridge across the Yamuna River near Noida’s Mangroli village will be divided equally between the two states. The bridge across the Yamuna River is very crucial as it will link the expressway to Faridabad, providing relief to the residents of the city.

While the bridge will be constructed by the Haryana agency, the Noida authority will bear 50 per cent of the total cost. The officials further assured that the construction work will commence once the estimates of the project are finalised, adding that the details are likely to be revealed at the end of the year.
“Now we have got an official letter from the Faridabad government body that they are ready to share the project cost,” Noida authority’s chief general manager Vijay Rawal was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times. “This project will immensely benefit not only Ghaziabad or Noida but also Faridabad, as it will cut travel time by up to 40 minutes,” he added.
The FNG expressway was proposed in 1989 to reduce the congestion on Delhi's roads by allowing the motorists to bypass the national capital. However, the project has witnessed little progress in the last almost three decades due to a lack of coordination between state governments. The officials had stated that the Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments were not on the same page on multiple issues, leading to the delay.
