A 30-year-old man raped a 10-month-old girl in Bharuch, Gujarat, on Sunday, according to police. The incident occurred in Panoli village, when the accused took the girl away as she was playing in the courtyard of her home. The accused, Deepak Kumar Lalbabu Singh, sexually molested the baby girl while taking her to his house, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kushal Oza.

The mother of the child works at a restaurant, according to the police. The accused was acquainted with the child and her family, having frequently visited their home to play with her. The accused took the baby away on Sunday when she was playing in her courtyard and raped her not far from the house.

When the baby's grandmother heard her screams, she hurried to the scene to see the infant badly hurt and bleeding. The culprit was caught and turned over to the police by angry residents.

Later, the child's mother raced to the site after hearing the distressing news and rushed her kid to Bharuch Civil Hospital, where her health deteriorated owing to serious injuries.

Before making an arrest, the police filed a complaint under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further legal proceedings are underway.

As part of the inquiry, the accused and the victim have both had medical examinations.
