Gujarat Rain Update: Rajkot city and district were hit by sudden, heavy rain on Thursday, causing waterlogging in several areas. The downpour, which lasted just two hours, brought around two inches of rain, disrupting movement across the city. Roads turned into flowing streams and people in low-lying localities struggled as water levels quickly rose.
Gujarat Rain: Jamkandorana Among Worst-Affected Areas
Jamkandorana taluka in Rajkot district received around 2.7 inches of rainfall between 6 AM and 2 PM, the highest in the region. Residents described the situation as similar to a “water bomb,” with water flooding both agricultural fields and residential roads. Jetpur reported 1.9 inches, and Rajkot recorded 1.5 inches of rain. Other affected areas included Gondal (20 mm), Dhoraji (14 mm), Lodhika (9 mm), Jasdan (7 mm) and Upleta (1 mm).
Gujarat Weather: IMD Forecasts More Rain in Coming Days
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Gujarat over the next seven days due to three active weather systems. The warning includes gusty winds, lightning and the possibility of very heavy rainfall in several districts. People living in low-lying areas have been advised to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel.

Gujarat Weather Forecast: Red Alert In Nine Districts
A red alert has been issued for Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Morbi, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Rajkot, Sabarkantha and Banaskantha districts. These areas are expected to see moderate gusty winds below 40 kmph, heavy rainfall exceeding 15 mm per hour, and lightning. Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors and avoid stepping out unless necessary.
Gujarat IMD Weather: Orange Alert For 18 Regions
Patan, Mehsana, Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Kutch, Botad, Amreli, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Diu, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli are under an orange alert. These places are likely to see wind speeds under 40 kmph with light storms, moderate rainfall between 5–15 mm per hour and a moderate chance of lightning.

Yellow Alert Issued for Central Gujarat
A yellow alert has been declared in Mahisagar, Kheda, Anand, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch and Narmada. Light rain below 5 mm per hour is expected in these districts, with a lower risk of lightning.
Gujarat Weather Today: Districts Likely to See Heavy Rain
As per today’s forecast, heavy to very heavy rain is likely in Kutch, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana and Sabarkantha. Meanwhile, Porbandar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad, Morbi, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Dang, Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli may also receive heavy showers.
