A disturbing incident has surfaced after a 19-year-old woman alleged that her live-in partner brutally assaulted her at their rented accommodation in Gurugram's Sector 69. The accused man, identified as Shivam, has been arrested.

The woman alleged that Shivam poured sanitizer onto her private parts and attempted to set her on fire.

How Did A love Story Turn Into A Nightmare

The ordeal began when the survivor, a resident of Tripura, moved to Gurugram to pursue her studies and began residing in a paying guest accommodation. In September 2025, the victim met Shivam through an online dating app and began meeting him frequently. Shivam resides in Narela with his sister.

After a few days of dating, the two began living together. However, the relationship soon became strained when Shivam started to suspect the victim of cheating. The accused then began assaulting the survivor both physically and mentally.

A Suspicion Led To An Assault

On February 16, the altercation took a violent turn when Shivam smashed the woman's head with a steel bottle and an earthen pot. Following this, he attempted to set the victim's private parts on fire by pouring sanitizer on them.

The survivor also alleged that Shivam threatened to beat her to the extent that she would be unable to walk or become a mother, NDTV reported. Additionally, Shivam allegedly recorded obscene videos of the student and used them to blackmail her.

After two days, the 19-year-old managed to call her mother using Shivam's mobile phone. She narrated the entire incident to her mother in Bengali.

The woman's mother, who is a police officer, dialed the 112 helpline. Following this, the Gurugram police reached the woman's residence and shifted her to a nearby hospital.

The Gurugram police have invoked sections relating to wrongful confinement, voluntarily causing hurt, sexual intercourse obtained by deceitful means, and criminal intimidation.
