Himachal Pradesh: The heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh has led to hazardous conditions on the icy mountain roads, with many drivers recently encountering the dangers of losing control as their vehicles skid on the slippery surfaces. In one such incident, a video shows a small truck skidding uncontrollably on a snow-covered road before plunging into Solang Valley. The video shows the truck sliding while heavy snowfall blankets the area.
The video, which has garnered significant attention on social media, shows that the truck begins to slide on the icy road, with heavy snowfall blanketing the town.

In a split second, the driver leaps out of the moving vehicle, narrowly escaping a dangerous fall. Initially, he attempts to halt the truck but struggles as he too slips on the slick surface. Within moments, the truck careens off the road, plunging into the valley below.
A fresh spell of heavy snowfall in Manali this week caused at least 1,000 vehicles to be stranded for hours between Solang and Atal Tunnel. In response, the Kullu police initiated a rescue operation, successfully evacuating around 5,000 tourists.
"Due to fresh snowfall, about 1,000 tourists and other vehicles were stuck in Solang Nala. There were about 5,000 tourists in these vehicles. The vehicles and tourists have been rescued by Kullu Police and taken to safe places. The rescue operation is still going on," the police said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Earlier, a man narrowly escaped danger at the Atal Tunnel after jumping out of his SUV to save himself. A video shared on Instagram captured a Mahindra Thar losing control on the snow-covered stretch that connects Manali to the Lahaul-Spiti Valley. Another video shows several vehicles struggling to maintain control on the snowy roads around the tunnel.
The Atal Tunnel opened in 2020, is an engineering marvel that significantly reduces travel time between Manali and the Lahaul-Spiti Valley by bypassing treacherous high mountain passes. However, during winter, the region becomes dangerous for drivers due to heavy snowfall.
