Holi Trains Update: Ahead of Holi, people willing to travel to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to celebrate the festival of colours in their hometowns are having trouble in finding train tickets. While the ticket booking of almost all the currently operating trains on these routes are over, the seats are not even available in the special trains. There is a scramble for Tatkal tickets to go to these districts as passengers are facing trouble for each ticket.

The passengers are forming long queues since the early hours of the day as booking for Tatkal tickets for Holi is being done at around 10 am and then 11 am. Several of the passengers have to stand in these queues for 2-3 days for the confirmation of the ticket as the chances of ticket being confirmed is very narrow.

The passengers are facing massive crowds as the number of seats in tatkal category is limited and the waiting list is increasing. The authorities stated that Waiting Ticket in the trains going to UP and Bihar has been increasing, creating a panic among the passengers who are now in doubt regarding their possibilities of getting a confirmed ticket.

While providing examples, authorities stated that one of the prominent trains Gorakhdham Express is full since past many days. It added that while the waiting list has reached 200, passengers are still applying for a confirmed ticket.

The case is similar with the other trains operating on this route as the waiting list in most of these trains have gone up to 150 to 200. This is not the first time that the passengers are facing multiple difficulties in getting a confirmed ticket as the situation is almost same every year on the occasions of Holi and Chhath.

The railway authorities have urged the passengers to not travel without the confirmed ticket, adding that more special trains are being arranged for the festival.
