Humayun Tomb News: Six people were killed, including three women and two men, after a portion of the roof of a room at Dargah Sharif Patte Shah, located near Humayun's Tomb in Delhi's Nizamuddin area collapsed on Friday evening.
"Six people have lost their lives in the incident...It is a matter of investigation and action will be taken if someone was living illegally here in the ASI site," District Magistrate South-East Delhi, Dr Sravan Bagaria said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
All people pulled out were sent to different hospitals, including AIIMS Trauma and LNJP hospital. The area has been cordoned off.
A call regarding a portion of a dome falling was received around 3:51 pm.
“We got the information at 3:51 pm at the Delhi Fire Services control room that a building adjacent to Humayun Tomb has collapsed. Immediately, our four vehicles with 25 firefighters on board came to the spot. A total of 10 people were rescued. Nine of them were sent to the trauma center, and one was sent to RML hospital… As per intial information three men and two women are reported dead... Fire-fighting operation has just concluded," Mukesh Sharma, Divisional Fire Officer, said.

NDRF personnel conducted a search operation at Dargah Sharif Patte Shah premises. The surrounding area remained sealed as structural engineers and investigators examined the site.

Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the collapse. The monument is a mid-16th century mausoleum that is frequented by tourists.
