Karnataka’s Public Works Department (PWD) Minister, Satish Jarkiholi, has confirmed that an attempt was made to honey-trap a state minister. However, the effort was unsuccessful. "It is true that an attempt (to honey-trap) was made, but it did not succeed," ANI quoted Jarkiholi as saying.
State Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that the police have registered a case and will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
"If we have to save the dignity of our members, we have to put a brake on such incidents. It's a serious issue. I will order a high-level probe into it," Karnataka Home Minister told the Assembly.
The minister further revealed that this is not a new incident. Similar cases have occurred in Karnataka over the past 20 years. He noted that leaders from all political parties, including Congress, BJP, and JD(S), have been targeted in such traps.
Jarkiholi also mentioned that he has urged the concerned authorities to register a formal complaint and initiate an investigation into the case. Besides, he also urged the victim to come forward and file a complaint.
"We have advised the victim to come forward and officially file a complaint. Only then can the full truth come out, and justice be served," he added.
