Karnataka Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that several districts of Karnataka are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall till July 28. The weather department stated that while the coastal regions are expected to witness heavy rainfall, the other areas are set to receive light to moderate rainfall. The rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
The weather department also stated that the hilly regions are also likely to receive heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds. "Scattered moderate rain is likely in coastal and hilly districts of the state, with scattered heavy to very heavy rain. Scattered to widespread light to moderate rain and heavy at isolated places till July 28 in interior districts," Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The IMD also stated that the capital city, Bengaluru, will receive light to moderate rainfall for the next few days. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages in several parts of the city. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 27 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 19 degrees Celsius.
The IMD also stated that the vehicular movement is likely to be affected in several key areas due to waterlogging for the next few days. Apart from Karnataka, several other states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar, are also set to witness rainfall for the next few days.
