Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulmarg was seen covered in a thick blanket of snow as snowfall continued in the region. The drone visuals showed that the renowned tourist spot in north Kashmir was blanketed in multiple feet of snow and tourists enjoying the weather. The temperature plummeted to several degrees below freezing point for the last 3 days and recorded minus 7 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Meanwhile, heavy snowfall and rain lashed Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, causing flight cancellations, road closures and avalanche warnings. The hilly areas received up to three feet of snow, while the plains witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall.
The snowfall started late on Saturday night and continued till Monday morning. The Srinagar airport had to cancel all flights due to snow accumulation on the runway. The Mughal Road and Srinagar-Leh National Highway were also closed to traffic.

The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority issued an alert for possible avalanches in the higher reaches and advised people to take precautionary measures. The snowfall and rain also affected the power supply and water supply in some areas.
The weather department forecasted more rain and snow for Monday and Tuesday, with a gradual improvement from Wednesday onwards.
