A physical altercation between two rival groups momentarily paused to allow an ambulance to pass in Kerala's Calicut. The incident occurred during elections at a local cooperative bank in the Calicut district, where tensions between the Congress party and a breakaway faction led to violent clashes.

Videos of the confrontation, which took place on Sunday, are rapidly going viral across social media platforms.

The unrest erupted after a group, which had split from the Congress and received backing from the CPM, won control of the bank’s board of directors. The board had been a Congress stronghold for 61 years.

The incident has been dubbed "The Kerala Story," with netizens applauding the brief moment of civility. People are praising the individuals involved for putting aside their violent conflict to allow the ambulance through, showing an unexpected level of civic sense amidst the chaos.

This isn't the first time such a gesture has caught attention in Kerala. Back in 2020, during the anti-CAA-NRC protests, participants made way for an ambulance despite the tension and large crowds. It’s as if these moments, rare but significant, serve as a reminder that even in times of fierce rivalry, some things—like respecting human life—take precedence.

“Being educated and civilised ensures you are responsible towards society as a whole. You act responsibly in situations and work for greater good,” said a user.

“The sincerity of the crowd in giving way to the ambulance is appreciated despite the scuffle and fight,” writes another.

Some users also termed the gesture comical. “This is too damn funny and adorable at the same time,” a netizen wrote.
