The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has announced that all five elevated metro stations on the Charbagh-Vasant Kunj section will be completed within two years. The development is part of the proposed East-West Corridor (Lucknow Metro Phase-1B).

In a major step forward, UPMRC has awarded a civil construction contract worth approximately Rs 453 crore for the elevated stretch between Charbagh and Vasant Kunj. The contract has been given to M/s Ranjit Buildcon Ltd.

Under the project, the company will be responsible for the design and construction of the elevated metro corridor between Thakurganj Metro Station and Vasant Kunj Metro Station, along with five elevated metro stations. The targeted completion timeline for the project is two years.

Following a detailed technical and financial evaluation, M/s Ranjit Buildcon Limited emerged as the successful bidder for this key infrastructure project. The scope of work includes constructing an approximately 4.6-km-long elevated metro viaduct, including station structures.

In addition, a 740-metre-long ramp will be built to connect the main line with the depot entry and exit. 

The corridor will feature elevated stations at:

- Thakurganj

- Balaganj

- Sarfarazganj

- Musabagh

- Vasant Kunj

UPMRC Managing Director Sushil Kumar said that the awarding of this tender marks an important milestone in the implementation of Lucknow Metro Phase-1B. He added that the corridor will provide a modern, safe, and sustainable transport system for citizens, and the corporation is committed to completing the project on time with world-class quality standards.

A tender for the Vasant Kunj Metro Depot construction has already been published, and a tender for its underground segment will be out soon. A total of 12 stations will be built for the East-West corridor, 7 of them underground and 5 elevated stations.
