Mumbai: The MHB police have arrested a rickshaw driver for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old girl while she was going to school in Mumbai’s Borivali area. As per the police, the driver fled from the spot when the girl protested. The accused has been identified as Naresh Moti Singh (44).

“In Mumbai's Borivali area, a rickshaw driver molested a 15-year-old girl going to school in a rickshaw, the driver fled from the spot when the girl protested. MHB police registered a case and started searching for the absconding accused and arrested him after 5 days from the Nalasopara area of Palghar district. The name of the accused is Naresh Moti Singh (44),” said MHB Police in a statement.

In another unrelated incident, in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain, a man was accused of raping a woman who collects scrap after forcing her to drink alcohol. The incident occurred in the Agar Naka area and was brought to public attention when a video of the assault circulated on social media. Police have since arrested the suspect.

The alleged crime took place on Wednesday when the accused, identified as Lokesh, promised to marry the woman. After making her consume alcohol, he reportedly assaulted her and then threatened her to remain silent about the incident before fleeing the scene.

City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Om Prakash Mishra stated, “Some bystanders recorded the event instead of intervening. The woman only reported the crime after she sobered up.” Following her complaint, Lokesh was apprehended by the police.
