A dramatic incident unfolded at a store at DLF Mall of India in Sector 18, Noida, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday when a woman was caught stealing grocery items. The Le Marche store staff said the woman stole jars of ghee and bottles of refined oil and hid them in her bag.

The videos of the incident went viral on social media, drawing divided opinions. The three-part clips emerged on X, showing the woman being escorted by security guards while she hides her face behind her phone. A staffer shows the stolen items - jars of ghree and oil bottle- in a video clip. The Daily Jagran could not independently verify the video's authenticity.

 

How She Was Caught?

According to the store employee, the woman drew staff's attention when she attempted to conceal jars of ghee and oil bottles in her bag. The staff spotted her stealing in the real-time CCTV footage. The security guard caught her when she attempted to leave the store. NDTV reported that the woman was accompanied by her husband. He was at the billing counter when she was caught.

No Police Action

According to media reports, the woman paid the bill for the items she was accused of stealing. The store management and the couple reached an agreement for settlement after the payment. The matter was not escalated to police.

A post on X claimed that she was a frequent visitor to the store. Staffers suspect that she would have stolen items multiple times in past.

The video sparked outrage on social media. Many users suspect that she would have been suffering from Kleptomania, a rare impulse-control disorder defined by a recurring, uncontrollable urge to steal items that are typically low-value, unneeded, and easily affordable.
