Delhi Blast: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening took stock of the situation after a massive explosion rocked the vicinity of the iconic Red Fort, claiming the lives of ten people and injuring several others. The blast, which occurred near the Red Fort Metro station, led to a high alert being issued across Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad.

Expressing his sorrow, the Prime Minister posted on X, “Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other officials.”

ANI rcited Sources in the government as stating that, the Prime Minister immediately spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and sought updates on the situation as agencies rushed to the spot. The Home Minister, who is closely monitoring developments, also spoke with the Delhi Police Commissioner and directed specialised teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and forensic departments to take charge of the probe. He is said to be in constant touch with the Intelligence Bureau to assess any possible terror links or security lapses.

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the blast, writing on X, “The news of the deaths of people in the explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi has left me extremely distressed.”

She added, “Marang Buru, may you grant peace to the souls of the departed and give strength to the grieving families to endure this hour of sorrow. I pray for the swift recovery of those injured in this horrific incident.”

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also conveyed her sympathy and urged citizens to stay calm. Posting on X, she said, “The incident of the car explosion near the Red Fort is extremely distressing and alarming. I express my deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this tragic accident. I pray to God that the injured recover swiftly. Every possible assistance is being ensured for the affected people. Teams from the Delhi Police, NSG, NIA, and FSL are working together to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire matter. I appeal to all Delhi residents to avoid rumours and maintain peace. Please rely only on official information issued by the police and administration.”

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also reacted to the incident, calling it “heartbreaking and concerning.” On X, he wrote, “The news of the car explosion near Delhi's Red Fort Metro Station is extremely heartbreaking and concerning. The report of the deaths of several innocent people in this tragic incident is profoundly sorrowful. In this hour of grief, I stand with the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones and express my deepest condolences to them. I hope for the swift recovery of all the injured.”

Delhi's Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described the explosion as deeply worrying and called for immediate action. Posting on X, he said, “The news of the explosion near the Red Fort is extremely alarming. It is reported that some people have also lost their lives in it, which is extremely tragic. The police and government should immediately investigate how this explosion occurred and whether there is any larger conspiracy behind it. Negligence regarding Delhi's security cannot be tolerated.”

Congress leader and head of the party’s media and publicity department, Pawan Khera, also reacted to the incident. “The news of a car explosion near Red Fort Metro Station is deeply distressing. Early reports indicate that several lives have been lost. In this hour of grief, we stand with the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. The government must ensure a thorough and speedy investigation into the incident,” he wrote on X.

BJP MP from Chandni Chowk, Praveen Khandelwal, also expressed grief and solidarity with the victims. “I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident of a car explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station earlier this evening. This tragic occurrence in the heart of Delhi has caused great distress among citizens, and my thoughts are with all those affected by the incident,” he tweeted.

Khandelwal further urged authorities to “conduct a swift and thorough investigation” and thanked the Delhi Police and emergency services for their quick response. “As the elected representative of Chandni Chowk, I stand in solidarity with the people during this difficult time,” he added.
