Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, while speaking in Rajya Sabha said India's heritage trains like Darjeeling, Kalka-Shimla etc. will get modern coaches with new technologies and the first rake has been prepared which will give a major boost to these tourist trains.
"Narrow gauge trains like Darjeeling, Kalka-Shimla etc. are our heritage, many of these are UNESCO heritage. Work is going on to build modern coaches of very new technology in all these, in which the first rake has been prepared," Vaishnaw told the Upper House.

How many UNESCO World Heritage-listed trains being operated in India?
Three UNESCO World Heritage-listed mountain railways- the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, and the Kalka-Shimla Railway, are being operated by the Indian Railways. They collectively known as the "Mountain Railways of India".

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway: Also known as the "Toy Train," it was the first to be designated a World Heritage Site in 1999.
Nilgiri Mountain Railway: This railway received the UNESCO tag in 2005.
Kalka-Shimla Railway: This narrow-gauge railway, known for its views of the Himalayan ranges, was designated in 2008.
Meanwhile, the Matheran Hill Railway and the Kangra Valley Railway are notable mountain railways in India, neither of them is currently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Sites, but they are on the tentative list.
'Made in Bihar' locos to reach destinations across the world: Railway Minister
'Made in Bihar' locomotives will soon be reaching destinations across the world as 100 such manufactured in Marhaura in the Saran district of Bihar are ready to be exported, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in Rajya Sabha on Monday.
His statement marked the Narendra Modi government's focus on Bihar, which will go for an assembly election later this year. While speaking during a debate on the working of Railways, Vaishnaw said the Marhaura coach factory was announced by Lalu Prasad Yadav but it remained inactive till the Modi govt came to power and revived it.
