Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Tuesday approved a 2 per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and pensioners in the state. With this revision, DA will rise from 53 per cent to 55 per cent, effective from January 1, 2025. The decision will benefit nearly 8 lakh state employees and 4.40 lakh pensioners, including Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad employees.
The increased DA will be disbursed with the April 2025 salary, payable in May 2025. Additionally, arrears for January to March 2025 will be credited to the General Provident Fund accounts of employees, according to an official release.
This move follows the central government’s recent approval of a similar 2 per cent DA hike for its employees and pensioners. Last week, the Union Cabinet approved the increase as part of its periodic salary revision, particularly in light of the upcoming 8th Pay Commission.

DA is provided to government employees to offset the impact of inflation. Before this revision, the last DA hike took place in October 2024, when it was increased by 3 per cent to 53 per cent of basic pay.
The 8th Pay Commission, which was sanctioned by the Centre in January 2024, has been revising wages and allowances for central government employees. The Rajasthan government’s approval aligns state employee benefits with these central revisions, ensuring parity in salary adjustments.
