A man in Rajasthan allegedly killed his five-year-old nephew in a horrifying act of superstition, following the advice of a self-proclaimed "tantrik." Desperate to bring back his estranged wife, who had left him and returned to her parents’ home, the man believed that a ritual sacrifice could help him regain control over her.
Identified as Manoj Prajapat from Sarai Kalan village, he was reportedly told by the tantrik that sacrificing a close blood relative would empower a ritual to reunite him with his wife. The tantrik allegedly instructed him to bring the child’s blood along with Rs 12,000 for a midnight ritual scheduled on Saturday, June 19.

Mahaveer Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mundawar police station in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district, stated that 38-year-old tantrik Sunil convinced a desperate Prajapat that Goddess Kali required a human sacrifice to reunite him with his estranged wife. “Tu tere bhatije ki bali de (Sacrifice your nephew)," police quoted Sunil telling Prajapat as reported by The Indian Express.
Prajapat planned to kidnap and kill his wife’s five-year-old nephew, Lokesh, as part of a ritual. His wife had left him and gone to her parents’ house after repeated fights, mainly because of his addiction to drugs and alcohol, according to SHO Singh.
On Saturday, Prajapat allegedly strangled Lokesh to death. When the child went missing, his worried family informed the police. After a thorough search, police found Lokesh's body hidden in a haystack inside an old, abandoned house near his home.
Prajapat had reportedly lured Lokesh to the deserted building by offering him toffees. According to the police, he drew the child's blood using syringes, as instructed by a man named Sunil. He believed the ritual would help him regain control over his wife and bring her back.
At first, Prajapat pretended to be concerned and stayed at the scene to avoid suspicion. But the police became doubtful because he was the last person seen with Lokesh and seemed to be trying to mislead the investigation.

During questioning, Prajapat confessed to the crime and explained his motive. He was arrested on Monday, and Sunil was arrested the following day. “It is a heinous case. Their mind gets possessed while doing such acts," SHO Singh told The Indian Express.
