Hindi Diwas 2023: On September 14 of each year, Indians from all over the country commemorate Hindi Diwas, a unique day. The primary goal of this holiday is to elevate Hindi over English as the language of importance. Hindi Day is another name for Hindi Diwas. According to Article 343 of the Indian Constitution, Hindi, written in Devanagari, is also the official language of the Union and the country's central government.

Hindi Diwas 2023 History And Significance

Hindi became the country's official language on September 14, 1949, by way of a resolution enacted under the Indian Constitution of 1950. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India, decided to designate September 14 as Hindi Diwas in order to encourage the usage of Hindi. Hindu Diwas was commemorated for the first time in 1953. On September 14, 1949, the Devanagari-scripted language of Hindi was declared the national tongue of India by the Indian Constituent Assembly. On September 14, 1953, the first official Hindi Day was observed.

Many authors, artists, and activists campaigned for Hindi to become the nation's official language.
