Pune Traffic Alert: The Pune Traffic Police on Friday announced that the traffic in the central region of the city will remain affected on August 16 due to the Shri Krishna Janmotsav and Dahi Handi festivals. It stated that the vehicular movement will remain affected in several key areas of the city, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, Laxmi Road, Bajirao Road, and Tilak Road. The Pune Police clarified that the decision was taken to manage the heavy crowd expected to emerge during the celebrations. It further advised the residents to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconveniences.
Pune Police announces traffic diversions
- Traffic police stated that the road from Tin Tofa Chowk to Blue Nile Chowk near ISKCON Temple will remain closed. It further stated that several other routes, including the U-turn at Gagan Unnati Chowk, the U-turn near Kesar Lodge, and the road from Khadi Machine Police Chowki to Shriram Chowk, will also remain closed for vehicular movement.
- Alternate route: The commuters are advised to take a U-turn from Khadi Machine Chowk and go towards the parking lot of ISKCON Temple to avoid any inconveniences.
- Pune traffic police also stated that the vehicular movement will not be allowed on Shivarkar Road, adding that the commuters can take a left from Samvidhan Chowk and proceed to the desired destination via Salunkhe Vihar Road.
- The commuters travelling from SG Barve Chowk to Pune Municipal Corporation Bhavan are advised to take SG Barve Chowk via Junglee Maharaj Road.
- Heavy security has been deployed in several key areas of the city to manage the crowd. While providing details, the authority stated that 10 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 16 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 80 Police Inspectors, 350 Police Sub-Inspectors, and 3,500 police personnel have been deployed to manage the situation.
