I never thought that, as a Gen Z, I would ever read the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita because why would I? It's not something fancy or trendy, and honestly, it didn't match my vibe. However, during a phase when I was struggling with anxiety and depression, my mind instantly turned towards the Bhagavad Gita. I thank my stars and my mother for it because, if I hadn't read it, I truly believe I would still be struggling with my problems.
For me, the Bhagavad Gita came as a blessing in disguise. It is believed that only those whom Lord Krishna wishes to can truly read and understand the Bhagavad Gita. While reading it, I imagined myself standing in the place of Arjuna, listening to Lord Krishna's teachings.
So, let's look at some spiritual lessons and guidance that I received from reading the Bhagavad Gita. I truly believe these lessons can benefit every Gen Z.

Important Spiritual Lessons From Bhagavad Gita
1. Focus on Duties (Karma) Rather Than Results (Phal)
We live in a modern world where we expect instant results from everything we do. In the greediness of those expected outcomes, we often become overstressed and overburdened. When things don't go as planned, we feel disappointed.
Lord Krishna teaches us to focus on our duties rather than the results. We should do our work with sincerity, hard work, and determination. This brings greater satisfaction, helps us stay peaceful, and frees us from unnecessary stress.
2. Control Your Mind
Overthinking is one of the biggest problems of our generation. We analyse everything, even the things that don't deserve our attention. If we train our minds through meditation and mindful thinking, we can experience greater peace and focus better on our goals. This also helps us develop a more positive outlook towards life.
3. Balance Is the Key to Success
If we maintain balance in every aspect of our lives, both our physical and mental health will benefit. In today's fast-paced world, living a disciplined and balanced life is one of the biggest keys to success.
4. Accept Change
Change is difficult, and nobody likes it. However, we need to understand that the only constant in life is change. Although change can be painful, it often aligns us with something better.
Changes make us stronger and teach us how to embrace and accept ourselves. Sometimes change brings opportunities, and sometimes it brings lessons. We should learn to accept both if we want inner peace.
5. Live in the Present
People often worry about the future. "What if I don't clear this interview?" "What if I fail this exam?" These thoughts steal our peace.
Lord Krishna teaches that true peace comes only when we live in the present. Worrying constantly about the future only disturbs our minds. Let go, live in the present moment, and trust that everything happens for a reason. You cannot control the past or the future, so instead of worrying about what may happen, learn to enjoy the present.

6. Practice Forgiveness and Tolerance
Lord Krishna teaches that practising tolerance helps us remain calm during difficult situations. In anger, people often end up hurting themselves and making decisions they regret later.
Similarly, practising forgiveness helps release the burden we carry in our hearts. It brings inner peace and also helps build stronger and healthier relationships.
