Google is all set to launch the upcoming Pixel 8 series on October 4. The devices will be available on Flipkart for pre-order from October 5. While the rumour mill has leaked all the on-paper specifications of the handset, one highlight regarding software updates has been getting the tech fraternity excited recently.
According to a 91Mobiles report, tipster Kamila Wojciechowska leaked the complete specifications of the devices and their OS update cycle. According to the rumoured details, the phones could offer seven years of security updates. However, users must note that this does not imply seven Android updates.

"7 years of updates, but not necessarily 7 OS updates," Kamila added in a post on X (formerly called Twitter). For context, the company offered up to five years of security and three years of OS updates on the Pixel 7 series. With the move, the company might defeat flagships from Samsung and OnePlus, which offer five years of software updates in India.
Google Pixel 8 Series Specifications And Price
While the base Pixel 8 could arrive with a 6.2-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED screen, the Pixel 8 Pro may have a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED 120Hz panel with a peak brightness of up to 2,400 nits. For performance, the devices may run on Google's custom Tensor G3 chip and Titan M2 security coprocessor, the report added.

Speaking of memory, the Pixel 8 may offer up to 8GB RAM and 256GB, and the 8 Pro may flaunt 12GB RAM and up to 1TB storage (US). The internal memory will peak at 512GB in other nations.
As for the optics, the Pixel 8 may have a 50MP + 12MP rear camera and a 10.5MP front sensor. Coming to the 8 Pro, the handset could have a 50MP + 48MP + 48MP back and 10.5MP rear camera. As for the price, the Pixel 8 Pro could start from $899 and the vanilla may have a starting price of $699.
