SAMSUNG is all geared up to launch the upcoming iteration of foldable phones - Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 at the next Unpacked event, which could take place in Seoul, South Korea, this year. According to Yonhap News, Lee Young-hee, President of the Global Marketing Office for Samsung DX's arm, shared that update during a media interaction.
Further, answering the question of why South Korea? Lee said the country is "meaningful and important." In the past, Samsung focused on hosting the biannual event in the US or Europe.

While Young-hee did not mark a date, rumours tip the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 could launch on July 26. The replanned date can be because of the official debut of the Google Pixel Fold smartphone at the I/O 2023. Or the rising competition in the foldable segment from smartphone companies like OPPO, Vivo, Motorola, Tecno and others.
Both phones could be powered by a premium Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Like last year, the Z Fold 5 will likely come with a triple camera setup with 50MP primary + 12MP UW + 10MP telephoto on the back. The Z Flip 5 may have a 12MP main + 12MP UW sensor. The upcoming book-style foldable could come at a price tag of $1,799.
Other than mobiles, the Galaxy Watch6 series could debut at the Unpacked event. Further, rumours are vigorously leaking details of the Galaxy Tab S9 series that may hint at an official debut later this year or at the second Unpacked of 2023. Going a step forward, GSMArena speculates of a possible debut of the MR headset at the event.
Meanwhile, the company hosted the latest Unpacked event in February this year in San Francisco. The South Korean giant announced the S23 series smartphones. Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and the top-of-the-line Galaxy S23 Ultra were the latest flagships introduced in February. Plus, the Galaxy Book3 series also witnessed light of the day in the event.
