WhatsApp remains in the news for introducing new features in its app and testing upcoming ones. But, in the latest update, the Meta-owned company is rolling out a bug fix update for widgets on its app on Android, according to WABetaInfo. The beta update marked in the report is 2.23.17.13. A user must update to this version to apply the fix.
The bug was highlighted by the news outlet in the update that packed multi-account support. With the new option, it was possible to add more accounts in a single app, which could eliminate the need for dual apps on smartphones after the rollout. Besides this amazing capability, the version messed up the widget of WhatsApp. Restarting the app or rebooting the smartphone did not solve the problem, according to WABetaInfo.
After the user placed a widget on the home screen, a "Can't load widget" prompt appeared in the window. The latest chats and list of messages were unavailable. As for some context, the feature helps users preview chats and access messages without opening the app from the home screen itself.
Beta testers facing issues with the Android widget of the app should update the app from the Google Play Store to the latest version.
RIP Dual Apps: WhatsApp Is Testing Multi-Account Support In Beta
In the same version with the widget bug, the WhatsApp enthusiast also reported that the company is testing multi-account support for users in beta. This option is available via the arrow button next to the QR icon in settings. A new option to "add account" was visible in the screengrab shared in the report.

A user can switch accounts from this option. This would help a user organise personal and work messages in one app. With the move, WhatsApp could scrap the need for second duplicate applications with a dual apps option.
