Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced Rs 10,000 bonus to the sanitation and health workers who provided their services in the recently concluded Mahakumbh. The announcement from the chief minister came after the 45-day-long religious event got over on Wednesday with a holy dip on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
Yogi further stated that the state government has decided to transfer a minimum wage of Rs 16,000 to these workers from April. He said that all the sanitation workers and the temporary health workers will also be given direct bank transfers.
He also informed that the bank accounts of all these employees will be linked to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana to ensure that they get the benefit of the health scheme.
"Our government has decided to provide Rs 10,000 bonus to the sanitation and health workers at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. We are going to ensure that from April, a minimum wage of Rs 16,000 will be provided to the sanitation workers... Temporary health workers will be given direct bank transfers and all of them will be linked to the Ayushman Bharat Yojana for health coverage, ensuring better welfare and support,” Yogi said.
CM Yogi also thanked the local residents of the city for their cooperation during the religious gathering. He asserted that the successful gathering would not have been possible without the support of the people of this city.
"I thank the people of Prayagraj--those who, for the last two months, treated this event (Maha Kumbh) as their own. I can understand that the city has a population of 20-25 lakh, and one can imagine the situation when 5-8 crore people arrived at one time," Yogi stated.
Mahakumbh 2025 got concluded on Wednesday after thousands of devotees took holy dip in Ganga river on the auspecious occasion of Mahashivratri.
