Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has given in-principle approval to run the Vande Bharat Express from Maharashtra’s Mumbai to Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur. He has also ordered a route survey of the new train, which will be conducted soon.

The approval came after former Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Affairs and BJP State Vice President Kripa Shankar Singh, who hails from Jaunpur district, met the Railway Minister on November 6 and submitted a letter demanding the train service. He claimed that more than 50 lakh North Indians live in Mumbai and out of those half a crore, every sixth person is from Jaunpur.

He also said that the current train service from Mumbai to North India is not comfortable for the passengers and takes a huge time to cover the distances between major cities in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
