The manual for recruiting 44,000 Home Guard personnel in Uttar Pradesh has been submitted to the government. Once it receives cabinet approval, the recruitment process will officially begin. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed the preparation of this recruitment manual.

The recruitment will be conducted in two phases, with 22,000 Home Guards selected in each phase. The process will be similar to that of constable recruitment—starting with a written examination, followed by a race, and then final selection.

Candidates must have passed high school and be between 18 and 45 years of age to be eligible. To ensure a fair and transparent selection process, the Home Guard Department has designed the manual based on the guidelines of the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board.

As in police recruitment, 20 per cent of the posts will be reserved for women, and the same rules will apply. Notably, the last Home Guard recruitment took place in 2011. Currently, while 1,18,348 Home Guard posts are sanctioned, only around 75,000 volunteers are actively serving.
