Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Zeeshan, who secured his Senate seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the backing of former Pakistan's prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan’s party, has accused the international community of turning a blind eye to authoritarianism in Pakistan. In a strong statement to ANI, he said global powers prefer dealing with “one individual” rather than a Parliament representing the Pakistani people.
“The international community has never even tried to call out the dictatorship in Pakistan. It suits them that Pakistan has dictators. It is easier to deal with one person than to deal with the entire Parliament because it reflects the people's voice,” Zeeshan said. He alleged that Western nations “want to control the whole nation by controlling one person.” Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 in multiple cases. His party maintains that these charges are politically motivated and aimed at silencing him.
No Photos Released, PTI Alleges Isolation
Responding to questions over why no recent images of Imran Khan have been released, Zeeshan claimed the government fears the former prime minister’s influence. “Imran Khan is so popular that a single picture of him would change the entire scenario of Pakistan. The ruling dispensation appears threatened,” he said.

He added that PTI leaders, Khan’s family members, and even his lawyers were being denied access, calling it a “complete violation of human rights.” According to Zeeshan, the party has recently received confirmation from authorities regarding Khan’s condition. “In the last few days, we have been given a guarantee. He is alive and currently lodged in Adiala jail. He is okay,” he told ANI.
These remarks come amid a surge of unverified social media posts alleging that Khan has been killed inside the jail, with no family visits permitted for over three weeks despite court orders.

Claims Of Pressure To Accept Exile Deal
Senator Zeeshan further alleged that authorities are attempting to coerce Imran Khan into agreeing to an exile deal. “They are trying to strike a deal… but Imran Khan will never agree to it. The kind of leader he is, he will never approve it,” he said. According to him, the government has offered concessions if Khan agrees to leave Pakistan and remain silent abroad. Zeeshan further insisted that Khan’s political hold remains strong.
