In a chilling case of mistaken delivery, a woman in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, received a parcel containing human body parts instead of the medical supplies she had ordered. Authorities confirmed that the gruesome mix-up occurred after a shipment meant for a medical training center in Nashville was mistakenly sent to the woman’s residence.

According to The New York Times, the woman—whose name has not been disclosed—was expecting a package of urgent medication. When she opened the box, she was horrified to find two human arms and four fingers packed in ice. Shocked, she immediately called 911.

“We opened one box and it turned out to be human body parts for transplant,” she said during the 911 call obtained by WSMV. “We just didn’t want to be in possession of body parts that don’t belong to us.”

Coroner Steps In to Retrieve Package

Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel arrived at the home shortly after the call and confirmed that the remains were legitimate cadaver parts. He said the shipment was intended for a medical training facility in Nashville but was erroneously delivered to the woman’s home due to a courier mix-up. “The box contained two arms and four fingers. It was a case of multiple mistakes involving an airline company, a freight service, and a private courier. A perfect storm of errors,” Daniel told local media.

Daniel safely transported the box to the county morgue, where it was stored overnight until the courier company retrieved it the following morning. The woman later received her correct medical supplies. “She did the right thing by calling authorities,” Daniel added. “These body parts were intended for educational and surgical training use. I believe they came from cadaver donations.”

Authorities Call It a ‘Perfect Storm’ of Errors

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed that the incident was accidental and that no criminal activity was involved. Officials described it as an “unusual but harmless” mistake.

The bizarre discovery has left many local residents uneasy about their own deliveries. “I open boxes every day, and I would just die if that happened to me,” said Kamela Stewart, a resident of Christian County, told local media. For one Kentucky woman, however, it’s a delivery she’s unlikely to forget anytime soon, a chilling reminder of what can go wrong in an age of overnight shipping.
