To encourage the ongoing adoption of electric vehicles despite decreasing government subsidies, Bajaj Auto plans to introduce more affordable electric scooters under its Chetak brand. The company is set to launch a new electric scooter targeting the mass market in May. Additionally, Bajaj Auto aims to expand its retail presence by threefold within the next few months.

According to a report by Autocar, Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto told reporters in a post-earning call, “The product upgrade in the fourth quarter was very well accepted. We will be launching a new product by May.” Talking about the prices of the upcoming Chetak electric scooter, he said, “We hope to attack the mass segment (with the new model). I cannot share the price, but it's not going to be a premium offering.
The upcoming Bajaj Chetak electric scooter model is expected to be equipped with a smaller battery and a hub motor. A test mule of the upcoming Chetak electric scooter was spotted last year. This test mule featured a hub-mounted motor, suggesting that this new launch might be that particular model. This new Chetak e-scooter is expected to be priced reasonably and would be a more mass-appeal product.

Chetak Urbane
Chetak Urbane is available in two variants - Chetak Urbane Standard and Chetak Urbane Tecpac. Both these variants are available at a price of Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom).
