German luxury car manufacturer BMW has launched the i5 electric sedan in India. The BMW i5 has been launched at a price of Rs 1.20 crore (ex-showroom). The BMW i5 is available only in the top-spec M60 xDrive variant and joins BMW's existing EV lineup including the iX1, iX xDrive50, i4, and i7. Bookings for the i5 opened on April 4 and it is positioned between the i4 and i7 models in terms of pricing.

BMW i5 - Exterior Design
In terms of design, the BMW i5 M60 features a classic illuminated kidney grille and a sporty bumper design with larger intakes. It rides on 20 inch alloy wheels and showcases sleek LED headlights and tail-lamps. In terms of exterior paint, it is available with various metallic shade options.

Talking about the interior, the BMW i5 boasts a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9 inch infotainment touchscreen running on BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5 OS. Notably, it introduces gaming and video functions to the infotainment system. The cabin is adorned with premium materials and features sports seats, a Bowers & Wilkins audio system, panoramic sunroof, 4-zone climate control and a 360-degree camera system. The BMW i5 M60 variant launched in India receives M-specific enhancements like carbon fibre trim, performance-oriented displays and a flat-bottom M leather-wrapped steering wheel.

BMW i5 - Battery, Range and Other Specs
The BMW i5 M60 xDrive variant is equipped with an 83.9kWh battery pack that delivers a range of 516 km on a single charge as per WLTP standards. It is powered by two electric motors that generate a combined power output of 601 bhp and 795 Nm of torque. This setup allows the electric sedan to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 230 km/h. BMW also offers an 11kW wall charger with the i5 electric sedan, while a 22kW AC charger is also available optionally. The i5 supports 205kW DC charging, allowing for a 10-80 percent charge in under 30 minutes.
