BYD Dolphin EV: BYD (Build Your Dreams), a Chinese EV manufacturer is gradually establishing itself in the Indian EV market. BYD currently offers the Atto 3 and e6 MPV models in India. Additionally, BYD is also gearing up to introduce the Seal sedan in the country. Additionally, BYD has filed a trademark for the Dolphin EV, which is expected to be the most affordable electric vehicle in their lineup if it hits the Indian market.

BYD Dolphin EV - Battery and Range 

In the global market, the BYD Dolphin EV is available with two battery pack options - a 60.4 battery kWh pack that offers a WLTP claimed range of 427 km and the second is a 44.9 kWh battery pack that offers a WLTP claimed range of 340 km in the Active variant and 310 km in the Boost variant. BYD utilises its LFP Blade batteries for the Dolphin EV and with a 100 kW DC charger, the battery can be charged from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in just 29 minutes. The car also features an 11 kW AC 3-phase charger. Additionally, the Dolphin comes with VtoL (Vehicle to Load) capability, enabling it to power electrical appliances. 

BYD Dolphin EV - Power & Performance

Talking about the performance, the 60 kWh battery pack variant of the Dolphin MPV can reach a top speed of 160 kmph and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 7 seconds. The BYD Dolphin EV is powered by an electric motor that produces a power output of 201 bhp and 290 Nm of torque. Moreover, the Dolphin is offered with four riding modes: Sport, Normal, Economy and Snow.

BYD Dolphin EV - Features 

The BYD Dolphin EV boasts a range of premium features such as heated front seats, electrically adjustable seats, adaptive headlamps, LED lighting and a panoramic sunroof. Safety features include Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Descent Control, and Automatic Vehicle Hold. BYD has also incorporated Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) which offers functionalities like Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Rear Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Brake, Lane Departure Prevention and Emergency Lane Keeping Assist.

BYD Dolphin EV - Price in India 

As per the prices of the BYD Dolphin EV in other international markets, it is anticipated that if this new electric MPV is launched in India, it will be priced around Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). This price range will make the BYD Dolphin EV the most affordable offering in the brand’s lineup.
