The Jeep Avenger EV is already available in Europe at a price of approximately Rs 31.50 lakh. This price bracket may be out of reach for many buyers, therefore, Jeep plans to introduce a more budget-friendly electric SUV. This new model has not yet been named and is expected to be priced around Rs 20 lakh. Stellantis CEO, Carlos Tavares confirmed this plan about the launch of an affordable Jeep EV. Stellantis, the parent company of brands like Jeep, Citroen, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, Fiat and Lancia, aims to make electric vehicles more accessible.
During an investor conference, Tavares was asked about the possibility of an affordable electric Jeep SUV. He responded positively, comparing it to the introduction of the Citroen e-C3. "In the same way we brought the €20,000 Citroen e-C3, you will have a $25,000 Jeep very soon," Tavares stated. He added that an affordable EV in Europe would be around €20,000 and $25,000 in the US.
Currently, the Nissan Leaf and Ariya are among the most affordable electric cars in the US, starting at around $28,000 (approximately Rs 23.30 lakh). With increasing competition from affordable and reliable Chinese EVs, it's crucial for Jeep to offer competitively priced options.
