Skoda Sub-Compact SUV: Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda is planning to enter the fiercely competitive sub-compact SUV market in the country. Recently, Skoda announced its entry into this segment, joining nine other manufacturers with as many as 10 compact SUVs. Skoda's upcoming sub-4m SUV has been testing for several months and is expected to resemble a smaller version of the Kushaq.

When Skoda India revealed plans for a smaller SUV, it also announced a ‘Name Your Skoda’ contest for this upcoming model. Now, Skoda India has selected 10 potential names for its upcoming subcompact SUV in India after inviting suggestions from social media users. These include Kylaq, Kymaq, Kwiq, Kariq, Kyroq, Kosmiq, Kaiq, Kayaq, Kliq, and Karmiq. The company has also announced a special reward for one lucky participant whose suggested name will be chosen for the SUV. This winner will not only see their nameplate on the SUV but also have the opportunity to own one and visit Skoda's headquarters in the Czech Republic, adding an exciting element to the SUV's launch anticipation.
Skoda Sub-Compact SUV - Details
The upcoming Skoda sub-compact SUV will be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform like the Kushaq and Slavia and will have a shorter wheelbase to fit into the sub-4m category, requiring a reduction in length by about 230mm. Spy shots reveal tweaks to the front and rear overhangs to meet the length criterion.

In terms of design, the compact Skoda SUV will feature the brand's signature split headlamp setup, slatted grille design and a sleek glasshouse, resembling a smaller Kushaq to maintain a family look.
Skoda Sub-Compact SUV - Features
Skoda plans to equip this subcompact SUV with more features than the Kushaq and Slavia. It is likely that it will include a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite. These additions aim to compete with well-equipped rivals like the Nexon and Sonet. The interior is expected to share similarities with the Kushaq.
Skoda Sub-Compact SUV - Engine
Talking about the engine, the upcoming Skoda subcompact SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that is capable of generating a power output of 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, paired with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.

Skoda Sub-Compact SUV - Launch and Price
Skoda's compact SUV will be a global model, exported to various markets like South America, South-East Asia and Africa. Talking about its prices, it is expected to be priced between Rs 9 lakh and 14 lakh.
