Volkswagen Tayron Revealed: German automotive giant Volkswagen has unveiled its brand-new SUV, the Tayron, at the Beijing Motor Show 2024. This SUV will initially launch in China as the Tiguan L Pro as a five-seater model. It's worth noting that while some markets will receive a seven-seat version under the Tayron name, it's essentially an elongated version of the five-seater Tiguan revealed last year.

Volkswagen Tayron - Design

Talking about its exterior design, the Volkswagen Tayron shares a lot of styling elements with VW's latest SUV lineup. It has inherited the rounded Tiguan appearance but with a more aggressive front bumper for the top R variant, while the regular models have a slightly toned-down design. Its profile resembles the Tiguan with blacked-out wheel arches and a spacious interior, but it's longer due to an extended wheelbase.

Volkswagen Tayron - Interior

Moving inside the Volkswagen Tayron, it mirrors the new Tiguan's minimalistic dashboard dominated by screens, including the main infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and a passenger-side display, all running VW's latest MIB4 interface. It features new AC vents, a well-organised centre console with wireless charging, drive selector, and storage, while physical controls are limited mostly to the steering wheel. In terms of features, the Tayron SUV gets powered seats with memory, massage functions, 360-degree camera, head-up display, dual-zone climate control, and advanced driver assistance systems.

Volkswagen Tayron - Powertrain

Talking about its powertrain, in India, the VW Tayron is likely to be equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox and optional all-wheel drive. The Tayron SUV is built on VW's MQB EVO platform that is shared with the Skoda Kodiaq.
