In a bid to enhance voter awareness, the District Election Office has introduced a mobile EVM-VVPAT demonstration van that educates citizens on the functioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs).
Trained personnel deployed in the van provide live demonstrations, showing the complete voting process — from pressing the EVM button to viewing the VVPAT slip. They also resolve public queries on the spot, ensuring voters understand the system thoroughly.
The mobile van visits major markets, schools, colleges, industrial areas, and villages across the district, stopping at each location for a scheduled duration to provide hands-on training. Information is also shared through audio-visual presentations, posters, and banners, with special attention given to first-time voters.
The Election Commission emphasises that building trust in the transparency and security of EVMs and VVPATs is crucial for conducting fair elections. The campaign will continue through mobile vans until the elections are announced, with the van’s schedule and route released periodically.
