A survey is being conducted to provide benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to homeless individuals across the Kaimur district in Bihar. The Rural Development Ministry, Government of India, is overseeing the selection process for eligible beneficiaries.
According to the Rural Development Department, as of April 2, a total of 1,06,408 beneficiaries have been identified across various panchayats in all blocks of the district. The selection includes individuals from Divyang (disabled), SC-ST communities, and other eligible categories.
Surveyors have been appointed in every panchayat to ensure accurate identification. MIS Officer Sudhir Kumar Pandey stated that while the initial survey deadline was March 31, it has now been extended to April 30 to accommodate more eligible candidates.

So far, 83,594 women and 22,814 men have been selected for the scheme. Additionally, 1,768 disabled individuals have been identified for housing benefits.
Among the blocks, Chainpur has recorded the highest number of beneficiaries at 20,506, followed by Bhabhua with 16,352, and Mohaniya with 12,593. Other blocks, including Adhora, Bhagwanpur, Chand, Durgavati, Kudra, Nuaon, Ramgarh, and Rampur, have also recorded significant numbers of eligible individuals.
Authorities are using drone mapping and digital verification to ensure transparency. Villagers will receive digital links and mobile notifications to download their housing approvals. The initiative aims to resolve housing issues, provide financial assistance for construction, and enable villagers to access bank loans.
With the deadline extended, the administration is working to identify more homeless beneficiaries and ensure they receive proper housing support under the PMAY scheme.
