Asia Cup 2025: Leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been named in Sri Lanka's 16-member squad for the Asia Cup to be played in the UAE, beginning September 9.
Notably, Sri Lanka also announced its squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, in which the star spinner Hasaranga failed to find his spot.
Ahead of the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka will tour Zimbabwe with the first ODI taking place in Harare on Friday, with the island nation playing one more ODI and three T20Is after the tour-opener.

Hasaranga had suffered a hamstring injury during their series against Bangladesh. With an aim to build a strong lineup for the tournament, the team has also given opportunities to two young batsmen, Kamil Mishara and Nuwanidu Fernando. Sri Lanka have Dunith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana among spin bowling options.
Sri Lanka, who suffered a heavy beating in the last Asia Cup final against India, which was held in ODI format at their home in 2023, are placed in Group B along with Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong.
Sri Lanka will face Bangladesh on September 13, Hong Kong on September 15 and Afghanistan on September 18.
Sri Lanka will start their Asia Cup campaign on September 13 against Bangladesh. Sri Lanka boasts an impressive record in the Asia Cup, having won the tournament on six occasions, with their previous victory coming in 2022.
