IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025 Super 4: The BCCI has filed an official complaint with the ICC against Pakistan cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan due to the provocative actions they took in the Super 4 clash last week. It should be noted here that the BCCI had sent the complaint on Wednesday, and the ICC acknowledged it.
As per a Dainik Jagran report, the BCCI asked for a strict action from on-field referee Andy Pycroft against Farhan and Rauf's "provocative and indecent behaviour" in the Asia Cup match held in Dubai last week.
The ICC will be organising a hearing if Sahibzada and Rauf don't admit to these accusations. They might be appearing before ICC referee Richie Richardson in a hearing.
In the match on Sunday, Rauf was seen doing the action of a plane going down and tried to make fun of the Indian Army when the Indian fans were chanting 'Kohli, Kohli' and reminded him of the match-winning knock that the star India batter scored in his over at the MCG way back in the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Rauf was also seen abusing Shubman Gill and Abhishek in his over, and then the Indian openers replied to him with their performances.
Sahibzada, during that match, was seen making a gun-firing gesture with the help of his bat, and that's why he was widely slammed on social media.
The BCCI official was qouted as saying to Dainik Jagran, "Such on-field behaviour is against the spirit of the game. We have complained to Andy Pycroft about this and demand strict action. Not only has an official complaint been made to Pycroft, but videos of Rauf and Sahibzada have also been attached to the email."
According to the report, the BCCI is of the view that these actions were intentionally made.
Although, Pakistan didn't make any comment on these actions which led to a huge controversy. Pacer Shaheen Afridi was enquired about these incidents during the press conference and he said, "Our job is to play cricket; people can think what they want. We are here to win the Asia Cup. We are trying our best to fulfil Pakistan's hopes."
Farhan also revealed the reason behind the celebration after the match. He said, “That celebration was just a moment at that time. I do not do a lot of celebrations after scoring 50. But, it suddenly came to my mind that let’s do a celebration today. I did that. I don’t know how people will take it. I don’t care about that."
Rauf and Sahibzada will now have to explain the logic behind these actions to the ICC during the hearing, and if they fail to do so, then they will face sanctions according to the code of conduct.
