Ranji Trophy 2025: India's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is looking forward to making a comeback to competitive cricket. Pant, who had sustained a foot injury in the five-match Test series against England, will now be making his comeback in the Ranji Trophy 2025. As per the Times of India, Pant will be given a clearance by the BCCI to play in this tournament.
Rishabh Pant had injured his foot in Manchester against the Ben Stokes-led side. He was trying to play a reverse sweep, and that's how he had injured his foot and had immediately left the field. The scans revealed that he had suffered a toe fracture. He still batted as the team needed him. But he was then ruled out for the rest of the series.
He didn't undergo any surgery, but still had to put on a cast. He had also started attending training sessions last month and seems to be in good touch.
“As of now, there is a likelihood he could be cleared by October 10. An assessment is due this week. It has been a long recovery for him. The BCCI medical team doesn’t want to take any chances with him,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying to Times of India.
According to TOI, Pant has made himself available for the 2025 Ranji Trophy. But the BCCI will be making the final decision along with the doctors, who are keeping a close watch on him.
A DDCA official has also revealed that if Pant does play, then he will be leading Delhi's Ranji Trophy team from the front.
He is not part of India's T20I and ODI team for the white-ball series against Australia. There are high chances that he might not get picked for India's 2026 T20 World Cup team. If he recovers well in time, then he might be selected in India's team for the home Test series against South Africa.
