Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have had remarkable careers so far, but are heading towards the end of it as India gear up challenging transition phase ahead. Both Virat and Rohit have already retired from Test Cricket and T20Is.

Fans continue to speculate as there are not many years left before the duo decides to call it a day on their respective international careers. They won't be seen playing for India in the upcoming England tour as well. Notably, the ODI cricket is the only format left for them to play.

After retiring from Tests and T20Is, Kohli and Rohit are likely to play in August for India’s three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. Later, in October, they will tour Australia for another three-match ODI series.

In an interesting turn of events, Cricket Australia is reportedly planning to give a perfect farewell to the Indian stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. While many expect the duo to play the format till the ODI World Cup 2027, it is being speculated that this might be the last time the two veterans will be seen playing in Australia.

Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg has revealed that they are planning a great send-off for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their immense contribution to the world of cricket.

"This might be the last time that we get to see Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma play in our country. And if that is the case, who knows, it might not be, but if it is, we wanna make sure we give them a great send-off and a reflection of the incredible contribution they've made to international cricket."

Cricket Australia have also expressed their interest in continuing to persuade the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow Indian players to play in the Big Bash League (BBL).

"That's certainly some conversations that we will continue to have with the BCCI. I mean, I would love to see Virat Kohli playing in the BBL this year. That would certainly create some interest in crowds and ratings, I'm sure. But at the moment, that's not happening, but we do have our ambitions to do those types of things", said Greenberg.

With only 9 ODI series left to play before the 2027 ODI World Cup, Kohli and Rohit will be looking to capitalise big time as they will prepare for one last shot at glory after their disappointing loss against Australia in the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup. It is to be noted that Rohit will be 40 years old by the time of the ODI World Cup 2027, and Kohli 38, so staying fit and in good form will be challenging.
