Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians, WPL 2026 Updates: Delhi Capitals women's wicketkeeper-batter Lizelle Lee was punished by the BCCI for breaching the WPL Code of Conduct during their match against the Mumbai Indians at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi on Tuesday. Lee has been fined 10 per cent of her match fee and handed one demerit point. She played a key rolein DC's thrilling win over the defending champions.
Lee continued her impressive form with the bat and played a 46-run knock in just 28 balls on the back of seven fours and a six as the Delhi Capitals chased down the 155-run target in 19 overs to register just their second win of the ongoing season. Notably, Lee is the third top run-getter in the WPL 2026 with 213 runs to her name in five matches at an average of 42.60.
Having missed out on her half-century, Lee lost her cool after getting dismissed by Amanjot Kaur. The incident took place in the 11th over of DC's run chase, when Lee was given out stumped off Amanjot after a lengthy on-field deliberation by the umpires. A down the leg side delivery saw Lee getting overbalanced while attempting a flick, with wicketkeeper Rahila Firdous effecting the stumping. After consulting multiple angles, including the stump camera, the third umpire ruled that Lee's bat was in the air at the moment the bails were dislodged.
Lee was not happy with the decision and visibly expressed her displeasure as she walked off and continued to remonstrate following her dismissal. According to the WPL's official press release, she admitted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment during the match.

Talking about the match, DC won the toss and opted to bowl first with an aim to bounce back in the tournament after a tough start. They restricted the Mumbai Indians to 154/5 in their 20 overs. Nat Sciver-Brunt was the top run-getter for the MI as she smashed another half-century and went on to play an impactful knock of unbeaten 65 runs in 45 balls with the help of six fours and a couple os sixes. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur also looked promising for her 41-run contribution in 33 deliveries.
For DC, Shree Charani picked up three wickets, whereas Marizanne Kapp and Nandni Sharma found a scalp each. Chasing the target, skipper Jemimah Rodrigues led from the front and smashed an unbeaten knock of 51 runs in 37 balls. She stitched a crucial partnership of 34 runs with Laura Wolvaardt for the third wicket before adding 37 more runs with Marizanne Kapp.
DC have now jumped to the fourth spot in the WPL standings with two wins and four points after five matches. They are in desperate need for consistent positive results in order to qualify for the knockouts.
