Current Situation In Manipur
Manipur has been grappling with ongoing clashes between the predominantly Hindu Meitei majority and the largely Christian Kuki community, leading to the creation of ethnic enclaves across the state. A curfew was imposed in Imphal, the state capital, and the surrounding valley on Tuesday, following clashes between police and student protesters during demonstrations the previous day.
Recent hostilities between the two groups have resulted in at least 11 deaths, disrupting months of relative calm. Rival militias have established blockades in various parts of the state. The conflict primarily revolves around competition for land and public sector jobs.
