Veteran actor Seema Deo, who was seen in popular Hindi films such as ‘Kora Kagaz’, ‘Koshish’, and ‘Anand’ passed away on August 24 at the age of 83. A legend in the Marathi cinema, her son-filmmaker Abhinay Deo shared the news of her demise. In 2020, Abhinay Deo opened up about his mother’s deteriorating medical condition and shared the update on ‘X.’

Abhinay Deo wrote, “My mother Shrimati Seema Deo, doyen of Marathi film industry, is suffering from Alzheimer’s. We, the entire Deo family, have been praying for her well being, wish whole of Maharashtra who loved her so much also pray for her well being.”

According to a report in the Indian Express, Abhinay Deo shared the news of Seema Deo’s demise and said, “Mom passed away earlier today. She was fine, she was suffering from Alzheimer’s, but otherwise she was fine.”

Seema Deo was a fine Hindi-Marathi actress, and had appeared in over 80 films throughout her career. Some of her renowned Marathi films are ‘Jagachya Pathivar’, ‘Vardakshina’, among many others. She was last seen in ‘Jivan Sandhya’ released in 2021.

Seema Deo owed her career to her guru Raja Paranjpe. According to a report in the Indian Express, in 2017 Seema Deo said, “Whatever I could achieve in my career, it’s all because of my guru Raja Paranjape. He not only taught me to act but also trained me so rigorously that it became very natural.”

Seema Deo’s husband and late veteran actor Ramesh Deo, passed away in 2022 due to heart attack. The duo first met each other in a local train as he was enchanted by the fragrance of mogra that she was wearing in her hair. They later tied the knot in 1963 and were married for 59 years. Seema Deo is survived by her sons Abhinay and Ajinkya Deo.
