Salman Khan starrer Dabangg is about to complete its glorious 15 years in the industry on September 10 this year. Helmed by Abhinav Kashyap, the movie featured Arbaaz Khan, Sonu Sood and Sonakshi Sinha along with Salman Khan in the first instalment of the movie. Dabangg became one of the most loved movies of the Bhaijaan, as it started the concept of the cop universe in the movie industry. Apart from being desi and different, the movie was also loved for featuring a solid dance number titled ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’, which starred Malaika Arora. The actress’ sizzling moves and electrifying expressions made the song memorable and rocked the music charts as well. However, recently, Abhinav Kashyap revealed an interesting fact regarding the casting of Malaika Arora.

Abhinav Kashyap recently revealed that the Khan brothers were initially against the idea of casting Malaika Arora for the popular song Munni Badnaam Hui. The director, during a recent interview with SCREEN, claimed that Arbaaz Khan was a little hesitant about Malaika’s casting, as he didn't want his then-wife to be labelled as an item girl.

Abhinav Kashyap said, “He didn’t like the fact that his wife would be labelled as an item girl. Arbaaz and Salman, no matter whatever they say, are actually very conservative Muslims.” The director also mentioned that Salman and Malaika had a difference of opinion regarding her outfits. “Malaika also had her own differences with Salman over her outfits. They want their women covered up. So, they didn’t want her to do the item song,” he shared.

The director continued to talk about the actress and said that when Malaika was offered the role, she accepted it as she is a “strong and independent woman.” Abhinav revealed that Arbaaz took a little time to get convinced, as Malaika explained to him that it's nothing vulgar and family members will be around her, so it will be alright.

Abhinav Kashyap also made another revelation and said that Salman Khan was not a part of the song initially. The actor insisted on being in it later on, after realising the song’s potential. This reduced Sonu Sood’s screentime. Interestingly, Sonu Sood had also once talked about this during one of his old interviews and mentioned that the song was initially made for his character, but Salman Khan’s entry changed a lot of things.
