Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s debut Bollywood film Saiyaara has been smashing all records at the box office. The fresh pair has impressed both audiences and critics alike with Mohit Suri's intense love story narrative. Not only fans but members of the industry are showering love on the debutants, including filmmaker Karan Johar. However, his appreciation post following Saiyaara's success was not well received by netizens. He was trolled and was called a ‘nepo kid ka daijaan’ on social media. As always, he didn't take it and gave a savage response to the toll.

Karan Johar Slams Troll For 'Nepo Kid Ka Daijaan' Jibe

Karan recently gave a shoutout to Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara and debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda on his Instagram handle. Little did he know that he would again be surrounded by nepotism allegations.

He mentioned in his note that he felt immense joy after watching Saiyaara. A Joy for the fact that a love story has conquered the silver screen and made the nation fall in love.

Praising Mohit Suri's story, Karan stated, "@mohitsuri makes the best film of his career and am blown away by his storytelling , his craft and his magnificent use of music… the music is not just a pillar but a character in this film…."

He went on to laud lead actors Ahaan and Aneet by saying, "What a debut Ahaan Panday!!!! You broke my heart and yet energised me as a filmmaker… your eyes spoke volumes and I can’t wait to see your journey ahead…. You are spectacular!!!! Welcome to the movies!!! Aneet Padda you gorgeous girl… how lovely and amazing are you!!! Your silences spoke volumes and your vulnerability and strength moved me to tears…. Both Ahaan and you were beyond magical!”

His post received mixed reactions; some lauded him for appreciating the newcomer's work, while others gave him Nepo Kid Ka Daijaan tag.

One of the users in the comments section wrote, "A gaya nepo kid ka daijaan (Nanny for nepo kids have come)." Responding to it, Karan wrote, “Chup kar!!! Ghar baithe baithee negativity mat paal! Do bachon ka kaam dekh !! Aur khud kuch kaam kar (Shut up! Don't breed negativity sitting at home! Watch the work of the two kids! And do some work yourself)”

After Karan's reply, fans backed him. Some users wrote, "every time it’s not necessary to point out nepotism. If people are talented they should be appreciated. You said it very well."

Saiyaara has recorded a massive opening at the Indian box office by earning Rs 84 crore net. In just three days since its release on July 18, romantic drama has crossed Rs 100 crore globally. Making Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025.
