Lokah Chapter 2: Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra became a box office sensation and the highest-grossing Malayalam movie of 2025. The film made its theatrical release on August 28 in India as a superhero film, directed by filmmaker Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan. Following the success of part 1, reports of a sequel surfaced online, creating a buzz among fans. Dominic Arun has now confirmed that he has started writing the screenplay for Lokah Chapter 2 and has managed to write a couple of scenes so far. He also discussed the pressure of delivering a hit movie, stating that there’s no formula for making a blockbuster.
Lokah Chapter 2 Confirmed
In a recent directors’ roundtable with The Hollywood Reporter India, Lokah director Dominic Arun teased everyone with an exciting update about the sequel. He revealed that his intention behind making Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra was to create something he personally enjoyed.
He said, “For me, this kind of success was never part of the plan. I just wanted to make a film that I would enjoy watching — something that carried the highs and spectacle usually associated with superhero cinema, but filtered through my own sensibilities. It began as a very selfish process. That’s when I sensed it was clicking. Everyone seemed to be enjoying it and understanding exactly what I was trying to say."

Dominic Arun Confirms Working On Lokah Chapter 2 Script
Following the overwhelming response to part 1, the filmmaker revealed he soon approached Dulquer Salmaan and narrated to him. Arun stated, "He got extremely excited after hearing it, and that’s how the film came together. Once it released, it sort of took on a life of its own. There’s no formula for making a blockbuster. So I’m going back to basics — writing, rewriting, and figuring things out slowly. The pressure is definitely there. I’ve managed to write only a couple of scenes so far."

Directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah presented the first-ever female superhero movie in Malayalam, blending fantasy, mythology, and superhero elements through strong performances. Besides Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role, Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra also stars Naslen K Gafoor, Santhy Balachandran and Chandu Salim Kumar in pivotal roles. The film was made on an approximate budget of Rs 30 crores. Following a successful theatrical run, Lokah Chapter 1 is available for streaming on JioHotstar.
