Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg tragically passed away on September 19 in Singapore. Now, months after his demise, a YouTuber has been arrested in connection with the alleged piracy of Zubeen Garg's last film, Roi Roi Binale. The identified person is Rafiqul Islam and he was arrested in Lakhipur, Goalpara district, for allegedly uploading video clips on his YouTube channel, Rafiqul R Vlogs.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the accused was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court and remanded to three days in police custody after a case was registered at the Cyber Police Station, Panbazar, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, IT Act, Copyright Act and Cinematograph Act.

The complaint, filed by producer Shyamantak Gautam, alleged that the film was illegally uploaded online shortly after its October 31 release. Zubeen Garg’s latest film has since become the highest-grossing Assamese movie, earning Rs 16 crore within 12 days.

Zubeen Garg Death: On September 19, 2025, Zubeen Garg, aged 52, passed away in Singapore while swimming in the sea off Saint John's Island without a life jacket. He was given CPR and rushed to Singapore General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the intensive care unit at around 2:30 PM IST.

Garg was cremated with full state honours on 23 September, including a 21-gun salute. On 30 September 2025, his ashes were brought to Jorhat for the traditional 13th-day Adyashraddha ceremony held on 1 October, attended by his family and thousands of fans.

The Assam government also announced plans to build a memorial in Jorhat, in addition to one in Guwahati, to honour his legacy. The ashes were kept at a public venue in Jorhat for several days, allowing fans and well-wishers to offer their final tributes.
